Penelope

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE PENELOPE!

This pretty princess was rescued by a cat loving family, but because
cats are Penelope's least favorite species, they were unable to keep
her. Silly girl! We assured both them and Penelope that we'll find her a
good home without any annoying felines to steal her glory!

We think Penelope is about a year old. She's been spayed, wormed,
vaccinated and is a very good girl with the litter box. As one would
expect from such a royal being.   She had a world class case of calici
virus when she first came in. That's one of the things cats should
always be vaccinated for, but unfortunately, she wasn't before coming to
us. Calici normally causes painful mouth ulcers and sometimes
conjunctivitis. In poor Penelopes' case the conjunctivitis was so bad
both her eyes were terribly swollen, so badly that we had to gently pry
them open to medicate them. It's taken months and numerous drops and
ointments but she's all better now, apart from her left eye being a bit
weepy sometimes. Adding some L-lysine, an inexpensive amino acid
supplement, to her food may help sooth that. Getting out of the shelter,
which she finds very stressful, will help as well.

Much as Princess Penelope disdains her fellow felines, she thinks people
are the cat's meow. She will gladly reign over her human subjects with
love and magnanimity. The more quality time she can get with her new
lords and ladies in waiting the happier she will be. Though obviously of
royal blood, she's not above a rousing game with toys on sticks and will
amuse her court when she gets the zoomies. The sooner she can get away
from the unwanted presence of all those obviously inferior, 4-legged
creatures at the shelter the better, as far as she's concerned. Help her
escape from the tower by filling out an adoption application or call Gina at
(480)779-9208. Penelope can't wait for you to lower the drawbridge and
welcome her home!
